Home Made Tootsie Rolls

For those of you who didn't make the tootsie rolls at our Souper Saturday and for those who want to make more, here is the recipe.  Enjoy!

3-4 cups powdered sugar
6 Tbs cocoa
¾ cup dry powdered milk
2 Tbs margarine
2 Tbs oil
½ cup Karo syrup
1 Tbs vanilla

Mix together 2 cups of  powdered sugar with cocoa and dry powdered milk.  Add margarine and work into dry ingredients.  Add oil, syrup, and vanilla.  Mix together well.  Put 1 cup powdered sugar onto table and put mixture on it.  With a spoon and hands work mixture into the sugar, adding more sugar as needed so Tootsie roll mixture isn’t sticky.  Knead until dry and easy to work with.  Roll dough into a long snake-like roll.  Cut to desired lengths.  Wrap each one in foil or wax paper.
Makes about 3 dozen depending on how big the roll is.

"Soup"-er Saturday Class Schedule

Okay sisters, we're warming up (or cooling off) into Fall now, and as part of that, we're getting ready for our Super Saturday fun and crafty celebration.  You can come join the festivities with us (and any of your friends who might like to come play too) on Saturday October 23rd, from 9 am. until about 1 or so that afternoon. We have tons of really great activities put together for you, with a wide variety of things to partake in and play around with.

Here's our current class schedule:

From 9-11 we have the Faux Tile Blocks class, the Wood and Vinyl Nativity Blocks class, the Ornament Trees class, and the Holiday Word Blocks classes

From 10-12 we have Dipped Chocolates going on in the Kitchen

From 11-1 we have the Quick Change Magnetic Photo Frames and Temple Shawl classes

From 12-1 we have the Etched Glass Casserole Dishes and No-Bake Tootsie Roll classes

And a huge variety of Make-N-Take tables that will be available throughout the day to drop in and out of

For lunch we'll be doing a Volunteer-Based Pot Luck Soup Lunch.  Martie Williamson is graciously handling that for us, and so far we have volunteers for all but just a couple of items.  At last count, we were still short two volunteers to bring a dozen cookies each, and two more volunteers to bring in a crock pot soup for the sisters.  If you'd like to volunteer (and I know that you would), you can contact her at
